While my city of sea waters cries...

It hurts so much… something unsettling inside
As i hear the messages of peace
... and they do not sound peaceful
They resonate the same violence.

Who is after all not angry
And who has not been hurt?
The man who weilds the rifle
And the woman who cries for peace
What binds them together
Is only but hurt... and anger.

But if violence were to beget violence,
and hate to bring new hate... in action or in words
Where is the space for peace then?

His violence has probably traveled a long way too
Innocence transformed by hurt to anger
Seeking release.
He is only a mere symbol of another saga of terror
Of which he was the victim.

"Kill him" we say "...and there will be peace"
As much as we wish it was
The solutions do not come so easy.

As long as there is no peace within us
As long as our messages of peace teach to kill
And our decisions to unite only seclude
Us from him...
There will be no peace...

Aren't we tied by the same threads
Children of the same God?
We are all one, live in one heartbeat of life
For these wounds that we suffer now
are not new... they just shifted from one part of life to another
From him to me...
And as long as we anger, these wounds will remain.

We wish if we killed him, peace would come
We wish we could sleep peacefully then with another murder,
This time his.
We wish there would be no fear then...

If only solutions came so easy.

Our pathways to peace will have to include him too
Our medicines for us will have to heal him too
Or the hurt
and the anger
and the violence
Will last
... within us and the in the world.

solutions don't come so easy...
